The French team is tackling its second 24 Hours of Le Mans
The Panis-Barthez Compétition team is getting ready to participate to its second 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2 with, this time, the new #23Ligier JS P217, in its red and black livery. For this 85th edition of Le Mans race, Fabien Barthez and Timothé Buret are joined by Nathanaël Berthon to complete the line-up within the French team with Olivier Panis as Team Principal.
Sarah Abadie - Team Manager : " We start from scratch because of this new Ligier JS P217 for this second participation. The objective of this year is of course to finish the race again for everybody here. This new car will bring us certainly its share of surprises in terms of reliability and we are going to work to be in front of the Ligier pack and to be even better than last year. We have a very complementary line-up with different qualities. As a “big brother ", Fabien brings a kind of wisdom acquired during his top-level athlete’s career, he knows how to deal with a great competition. He shares a lot with both young drivers even with Nathanaël who is the most experienced among the three. Regarding Timothé, in addition to his talent, he brings his good mood and communicates its joie de vivre to all the team. At every level, our team is very welded and we are delighted to have Pierre Dieudonné again as Sports Manager for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Olivier Panis, Fabien Barthez, Simon Abadie and I are proud to be the representatives of humanely rich French team and very motivated to tackle with this mythical event ".
Fabien Barthez - #23 Ligier JS P217 driver : " This team was created to share a human adventure with a leitmotiv : to transmit our experience of top level athletes to the youngest and the linked values without forgetting the notion of pleasure. The 24 Hours of Le Mans race is the perfect place to express it!”
Timothé Buret - #23 Ligier JS P217 driver : "I am tackling my 2nd participation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the same humility even if I have now the experience gained in 2016. To know what to expect gives me a “good” pressure and we all stepped up our requirements. With the extra 100 horsepower of the Ligier JS P217, we are clearly faster in the straight lines and curves compared to last year. The car is much delicate to drive and I am going to have a lot of fun to be more precise at the steering wheel ".
Nathanël Berthon - #23 Ligier JS P217 driver : "I am really pleased to join the Panis-Barthez Compétition family this year. It is a real comfort to work under Olivier Panis, Sarah and Simon Abadie’s supervision, with such sporting careers and technical experiences. The presence of Pierre Dieudonné as sporting director for the 24 Hours of Le Mans helps us more to get the best weapons to approach the event. With my team-mates, we are in tune since the beginning of the season in endurance. Fabien brings us his discipline mind and his capacity to federate the team, Timothé proves that he is a great driver race after race with a great rigor on which we can count. I am approaching my 4th 24 Hours of Le Mans with a very big determination and our new Ligier JS P217 will be our ally, we will do all we can to pass under that chequered flag at the best place !”
